Recently we discovered with a mixture of joy and sadness these images on google maps, which is apparently at least two years out of date. The wings circled below are now demolished. The largest, on the right, was the section of the house where Baldwin lived and wrote.
Many of the trees surrounding the house have also been destroyed.
As long as we’re looking at images from space, here’s a wide shot, indicating the size of the property, in comparison to the entire walled village of St. Paul de Vence, seen on the right side of the photo. The property is nearly 10 acres, one of the largest in the city limits. Roughly half of the property is a designated “green zone,” or protected woodland.
The upstairs windows of the house boast a full view of the Mediterranean Sea.
